Rider bio

The interest in motorsport started early for Darryn. "I read an article in a magazine on Kart racing, and asked my Dad to contact the Club, the article was so amazing it made you want to go and try out in the kart, so that is just what we did. My Dad has always loved bikes, so when we changed from karting to bikes it was the most natural thing to do, I have always had some sort of motor bike in my life from as early as I can remember, and I think it will stay that way for a very long time."

Darryn's brother Brad was a very successful Red Bull Rookie and has moved up to the Moto3 class, the younger Binder has the same plan. "I want to really succeed in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and follow my brother into the Moto3 class." His hero is Valentino Rossi and he also enjoys life away from bikes, "Skate boarding, water skiing, bicycle riding, diving and just chilling with my friends.

Darryn really is an internet age kid. "I am now homeschooled and I am currently doing the GED level 1 (grade 10) of the American syllabus. I do all my school work on my laptop from anywhere in the world."

Both brothers racing internationally has demanded a lot of their parents. "My family has always supported my brother and my racing 100 %. My parents sacrifice a lot for me to race and attend every race with me. My brother Brad is always at hand to give me advice and tips on each track."

Darryn has already been racing hard in Rookies Cup. "My best race was Misano 2013. I had been having a lot of bad luck and in Misano everything just came together. I loved the track and I had a really good race, fighting up front and finishing in 5th place."

He sees no reason why his hard work should not pay off and see him finish even higher up. "I will try my very best at all times in all forms of racing, Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup as well as my national racing in my home country. I plan on being on the Podium this year as many times as possible. Then I would like to be in the Moto 3 world championship in the very near future."

"My favourite tracks are Jerez, Misano, Assen and Aragon, because they all have technical as well as fast flowing sections which I enjoy."

"My aim just as any other racer is to win in the end, but I do enjoy working with the team and mechanics to get the best possible set-up for my bike to achieve what I set out to do."
