Rider bio

"When I was 6 years old my father gave me a minibike chopper which he bought on the internet. Soon the chopper had been replaced by a cheap minibike racer. Because our family didn't know anything about racing we had to learn everything by ourselves. We talked a lot with experienced people."

"In his younger years my father played soccer and liked racing ...but only on 4 wheels!"

"Because of the early death of her mother, my mother became responsible for her family at a very young age. She had a scooter, so I'm sure the fundamentals of my racing skills lie with my mom!"

"But seriously, my parents do everything that is within their ability to make my dreams come true with no pressure at all!"

His family support has generated a lot of great memories and great races and up to joining the Rookies Cup Bo liked to recall a race from 2013. "I've had a lot of good races but if I have to make a choice...the wildcard races last season on the Honda CBR500 in the Pata European Junior Cup were something special!"

"I was invited by Honda to race in this championship against international riders only. I had never seen the bike before. It was a big and heavy bike and riding on it was completely new."

"The free practice was used to learn about the bike. I ended 22nd so nobody noticed me. The next day I qualified 2nd on the grid and during the race I competed with 12 riders for the 1st place! I won the race in front of 80.000 people on my home track Assen with a difference of 0,006 second!"

"The second wildcard race was on the Nürburgring, I had never raced before on this track. In the 1st and last section I was fast but I lost a lot of time in the 3rd one. During the race I was stuck in a group of 5 riders competing for 5th to 10th place. The first 5 riders were way in front and I had to fight hard to leave this group and come closer to the leading group. In the last lap I could join them and immediately took over the first position. I won and my 2nd victory in this Cup was there! Races can be seen on www.2wheelstv.com."

It all helped Bo prepare for the next step. "Being a rider in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup was my dream and goal since I was 10 years old. Since this dream came true my new goal is being a successful racer in the Rookies Cup and after that being a great MotoGP Moto3 racer!"

His first season in the Cup, 2014, was spectacular and gave him a new favourite race to recall, again at home in Assen. "Starting from pole I had a great battle with the fastest riders of the cup. Halfway through the race Jorge Martin and I were in the leading position and we had a small gap on our followers. I was determined to going for the win and I managed it! It was a great feeling to win the TT of Assen in front of a huge home crowd!

Before the 2014 season started Bo said that he wanted to achieve a top 5 ranking in the Cup. He doubtless would have done so but for the fact that he missed the two races after Assen through a none Cup injury. He finally finished ninth and learnt a great deal. "I become a better rider in the rain. I'm Stronger in the battles. have good contact with my mechanics," states the Netherlander.

Bo still works hard at school as well where his favourite subject is English. He enjoys fitness training and cycling and his racing hero is Valentino Rossi. He knows that for 2015 he needs to take another step forward.

"A lot of riders from last season are gone and last year I have shown myself to be a top 5 rider, this year I will focus on the championship."
