It has been a while and my August Blog (I had planned to do one every month) is long overdue! Sorry for that but it has been a bit busy!
We started August with the start of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup test in Spielberg, two days had been planned and it was so good to be back on the KTM!
It was great meeting all the new guys and great seeing my friends – we might be rivals on track but definitely are friends off track.
After the test we stayed in Austria and we enjoyed a few quiet days – I have been cycling a lot there and so enjoyed it! It is a beautiful country.
There were two Grand Prix weekends planned in Spielberg so we had two race weekends.
I did not have a good qualifying (...) and qualified 18th the first weekend and that has a huge impact on the race – a good qualifying position is so important. I managed to get to the front group those races because I did have the pace.
The second race weekend I had a better qualifying – not where I wanted to be but it was a bit better – again I managed to close the gap to the front group both races.
So the goal for the next races is clear; improving my qualifying!
After the races in Austria we packed up as soon as we could as we had to drive to Jerez, to the ETC as we wanted to be there on Wednesday morning for the free practice. What an adventure that was – not only the race weekend, where I scored my first win, but getting there was already a big thing. Two flat tyres on our way!
But we got there and with two out of three times on the rostrum, I can tell you I will work hard at getting there this year with the RBRC too!
