G'day Everyone,

The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at Assen or better know as the Cathederal of Speed started off well for me until I crashed out of race 1.

Thursday I was really looking forward to racing around the Assen circuit as it is one of my favourite tracks of the year.

Free Practice 1: I got used to the bike and the track as it had been a long break from round 1 of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Jerez. I finished 6th in the session so I made some adjustments to the bike for free practice 2. I got more feel for the bike and the track and I got quicker, plus I found some good lines finishing 4th in free practice 2.

Straight after that was qualifying. I found a really good rhythm and a good setup and was able to put in consistently good laps so I qualified 2nd on the grid.

I was very eager for the race to start on Friday because I felt I had really good pace. I made a really good start and got the holeshot and lead the first lap. Then I was having a really good battle for the lead for the next 4 laps until coming out of the 4th corner I made a small mistake and had a highside.

The force of the crash dislocated my shoulder so I was unable to finish the race and could not race in race 2. I am now recovering/training my shoulder and its already feeling ready to race for podiums at Sachsenring for the third round of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.

I am looking forward.
