Blog | Manuel González riding hard and learning about the last minutes

Manuel González

Hi friends,

I'm going to talk about my last two races in Austria and Brno.

When I arrived at Austria´s circuit, the house of Red Bull, the first thing that impressed me was that everything was very new and very nice, especially the landscapes were super nice. Also inall circuits I love to see the stands full of people and ride my bike in front of all them.

The first day we were improving the bike and learning the track. It was not so difficult to learn, there are many straights and hard breaking points. During all the weekend I did not feel comfortable with the bike, but despite this, I did a good lap time in the qualifying pushing very very hard, before the last two minutes I was in 1st position, but at last I finished 8th.

I have to learn to manage better the last minutes in qualifying. In both races the setting of the bike was worse for me, I had no confidence on the bike at all, and I could not fight with the other riders how I wanted, and i lost many positions.

After Austria we went to Brno. The circuit is so long and wide, very nice, but the track has many bumps. We started the Free Practice 1 always improving the bike, also in FP2, and in the qualifying session I was 3 seconds faster than in free practice 2!! Finally I finished 12th on the grid but I think that I could have finished in the first lines because once again, I failed in the last minutes.

In the first race, the bike went worse again. My mechanics said it was because of the temperature of the track. I finished with not so good feeling and very angry with my result.

No confidence again, and for the Race 2 we decided to do hard changes on the bike. And they worked. In Race 2 I was more motivated although the conditions were a little weird. I was more comfortable and I could fight how I wanted in a big group. I finished 8th and with good feeling in the bike again.

For Misano I am very encouraged and I´m training a lot in the gym.

See you in the track! And thanks again to all my supporters and sponsors
