Makar Yurchenko Макар Юрченко

Hello everyone,

Here is my blog about the race weekend in Sachsenring, the 5th and 6th races of Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup!

Sachsenring is a very special circuit, because this track has 10 left to 3 right handed turns and it is the shortest one (only 3,671 km) in MotoGP calendar.

I was really impressed during the track walk on Thursday: I have never seen so steep uphills and downhills! So I started to enjoy the circuit already on Thursday.

Friday was a difficult day, but with a good result! On FP1 I didn't stop, I spent all 30 minutes studying the track, which wasn't an easy thing: plenty of blind corners with many apex.

For the FP2 we changed the setting, but it didn't go well. During the session I stopped 3 times in pit lane, we were changing the setup, but it wasn't better.

For the Qualifying practice we made another change with Santi (suspension technician) and the bike was much better, so I set a fast lap time already in the early laps, and finally I was in 4th place! That was a great feeling for me, I was finally satisfied with this result!

Saturday's weather was more sunny and warmer as temperature of asphalt increased a lot! The KTM RC 250 R bikes seem really sensitive to the track temperature. We had made a small change to the bike setting, because in qualifying it wasn't really so perfecrt.

P4 on the starting grid motivates a lot and I was eager to make a good race! As always from the first laps there started a big battle for positions, and I pushed very hard, but at the same time I was struggling a lot with a bike: it was impossible to enter fast turns, because I had a lot of bouncing in front. Anyway we had a nice fight with Enzo Boulom and finally I finished right in 10th position.

Before Sunday's race we tried to improve the setting once more, making a change in suspension's setup. From the first lap of the race I started to fight hard and I tried to stay in front.

All the race it was a hard battle in a group for Top-5, then I got unlucky and low sided in 3rd. The bike wasn't damaged and I was able to finish that race in 15th position (1 point), with 3kg of gravel stones inside the fairings...:)

All in all the weekend in Sachsenring went pretty well for me and for my feelings that I can be on top.

Now I am going back home to Russia, to train hard and to participate in Russian Supermoto and MiniMotard Championships. I am going to work on my mistakes and I will try to show better result in Brno, on 7&8 rounds of Red Bull Rookies Cup!

I want to thank everyone for the support! It motivates a lot and stimulates to show better results!
