Blog | Jorge winning in Mugello and then testing for Mahindra

Jorge Martín

Hi all,

I'm pretty happy on how things are going since last race of the Rookies Cup. I worked hard with the team from the beginning of the weekend to make it as good as possible, as I know it was going to be a tough race.

The first free practice on Friday was on a dry track, so it was a very good opportunity to learn the track and I loved it from the beginning, quite wide, one with full throttle curves, very important to know it very well in all aspects to go fast there.

Second free practice and the qualifying was in the wet, but I really didn't care as I also liked it, and there wasn't any better way to demonstrate it than getting the pole, so I just tried to make some good laps and I got my first pole of the year.

On Saturday, race day, I just tried to make a good pace from the beginning as I knew that some of my strongest rivals were a bit behind on the grid, so I thought that the best idea was to push very hard from the beginning and trying to get a good gap.

From the first lap the strategy worked perfect and I keep pushing until the middle of the race, where I just tried to keep a good gap controlling my pit board and I WON!! Was really happy for that.

I'm also happy because I was invited by Mahindra to race at the Montmeló races of the Spanish championship, just the week after the GP there. I'm so happy for this opportunity, and will try my best there too.

See you there,
