Blog | Hanro qualifying well at the Sachsenring, out of luck in Race 1 | 2014

Hanro Van Rooyen

Hello everyone,

This weekend in Sachsenring has so far been a blast for me. Starting with FP1. I used the free session to get a good feeling and understanding for the track. During FP2 there were some mixed weather conditions, but I managed to end the session in 13th position.

Qualifying was then cancelled due to heavy rainfall and race direction decided to take our FP1's lap times. Overall I was very pleased with my performance and couldn't wait to start Race 1.

I had a very good start and made up 2 positions. There were some crashes early in the race which gave me an advantage. I saw on my lap board, I was in 15th position, with more than a 10 second gap between the rider behind me. I stayed relax and focused, counting the laps down in the range for points!

With 5 laps remaining, I unfortunately collided with Manuel Pagliani, leaving us both out of the race...

I instantly felt a lot of pain on my left leg and was carried of on a stretcher for a check up. The medics gave me the OK sign and I was free to go.

I really hope Race 2 will go much better and that I can make a huge success of it.

Thanks for everyone's support.

Chat later,

Hanro #21
