Blog | Gabriel Hernandez learning and moving forward in Assen

Gabriel Hernandez

Hello everyone, Gabe "G3" Hernandez here

This weekend was very progressive. I was able to learn from myself and others.

In Race 1, I had a good start. I was about 14th into the back straight. During the second lap, I ran wide on the final chicane and lost plenty of positions. From there I was all alone in 18th and couldn't find a good rhythm to catch up.

In turn 5 with about 4 laps to go, I made a small mistake and fell to the ground. I ended up with a DNF for Race 1.

Race 2 was a lot better. I started off the race by running wide into turn 1. I was still able to pass people into turn 3 and onto the back straight. I was in a group that was battling for 15th for about the first 8 laps. After that I was alone for most of the race.
With 4 laps to go, I was trying to catch up to the rider in front of me but I couldn't maintain pace. I ended up one position away from points, however this is my best finish to date.

I am looking forward to Sachsenring with this momentum. Hopefully next round I will score my first points in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.

See you at Sachsenring,
