Blog | Filip Salač explains his Assen absence

Filip Salač

Hello everybody,

I'm going to tell you bad news about me.

Last week I had a race of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 Junior World Championship. It was my first time in Barcelona on the Montmelo race track but from first day of training I was fast there.

Saturday's qualification 1: I made fast laps from begin with new tires. 20 min. before the end of the practice I went for new tires but when I made a fast lap I've got a highsider and I tried to not crash but I went out and crashed in the gravel.

I got the bike and I went to the box but I lost a lot of time so I didn't make any more laps.

Qualification 2: It was to much hotter so the times weren't better than first qualifying. I was first in the practice but then I had had a strong highsider. I crashed and the bike hit me.

When I was in the gravel I knew that I had broken my left leg (femur ) because my leg was in the wrong direction and the pain was very very big.

I went to the Universitari Dexeus hospital in Barcelona. I had a surgery on Wednesday and now I feel pain, but I feel much better.

I want to say sorry to my team and thank you to Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup for support. I'm so sad that I can't race in Assen and more.

Big thanks to my family because they are here with me and support me a lot. Also big thanks to doctor Ginebreda and his team for the successful surgery!

Thanks to all and see you soon on the race track!

Your FILIP#12
