Blog | David Salvador pushing the limits in the CEV Moto3 races at Valencia

David Salvador

Hey pals!

Two weeks ago I performed the last FIM CEV Repsol's Moto3 races of the season. It was a very difficult weekend but very positive as well.

Let's get started!

On Wednesday and Thursday, as we are used to do this year, we had the free practices. Those were a total of five sessions under a really good weather as the one we enjoyed that weekend. During these FP's I was completely focused on working to get a good bike setting. I was very happy because we were following the correct way and the feeling was being very positive.

QP: P5
I did a good qualifying. It was a hard fight between the front group riders. We achieved better times than the ones from the World Championship of MotoGP and we almost broke the record. That demonstrates the high level we have had during the whole season in the Junior World Championship of Moto3. I ended the QP with a time of 1.39.143, just three tenths of a second behind the poleman.

Race 1: DNF
As most of you have probably seen it I had a very painful crash and that caused me a tailbone fissure and a lot of pain. Fortunately I got the fit from the medical center so I was ready to do my best in the upcoming races on Sunday.

Race 2: P7
I was able the get on the bike in the warm up and I demonstrated myself that my mind was full of power and confidence. Despite the pain that I was having I could ride inside the front group during the first part of the race. Then I suffered a lot of pain especially in the left corners and direction changes. It was one of the hardest races that I've ever experienced.

Race 3: P5
The pain was still there. It was even worse than the previous day but I firmly decided to get on the bike again. That day I could demonstrate that the body has no limits but it's the brain that marks our limits. The goal was to finish the race so that's what I did. But this time I fought for the win untill the checkered flag finishing in a great P5.

I can only thank my team for the awesome work they have done during the whole season and even more during the Valencia races. It was a really hard weekend for me but I think we achieved fantastic results taking into account my physichal conditions. I ended the championship in a great P6 so I'm very happy and full of confidence for the next season.

Time to rest for the next race with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup!

Talk to you soon! #DS38
