This year the test for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup was at Jerez. Jerez is a track I struggled at last season but with my hard work over the winter I felt confident going in to the test.
The first day was cautious but nevertheless a good day, I was enjoying being back with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup team and felt at home once again. With hard work from myself and the team I knew there was a lot of improvements to be made for the second day.
The second day was a lot better, I really enjoyed riding the KTM. With missing a little bit of riding on the Monday due to some issues, we did as many laps as possible on the Tuesday. I managed to go 2 seconds faster then last year at Jerez, so it was really pleasing to see my progress.
The third day of the test was a media day, I enjoyed this day a lot. All the riders had fun around the circuit together, we also had time to reflect on the first two days and plan ahead for the final day of testing.
The final day was very difficult for me, being sidelined due to an illness. I wasn't sure the cause of this illness but I wasn't happy about it. I took the most out of the day as I could, watching the other riders and learning from the rider coaches.
2 weeks after the Jerez test, I came back out to Spain for a week to train on my supermoto. I managed to do many laps and I felt back to my normal self.
I'd like to say thank you to the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup team for a great test, I enjoyed it a lot. I feel ready for Round 1 of the season. Hopefully I'll see some of you there!
See you soon,
