"I became interested in racing because of my father. He raced in the National championship for a couple of years. Me, my mom and my sister often went to the track to watch him race. That's where I got inspired to do what I love the most: Motorcycle racing."
"My father has played a big role in my career. He is always around when I race. In the past we went together so I could watch him race, now we go together so he can watch me race and we talk about how I can perform better on the bike. Beyond that he is the person who I can discuss everything with."
Not an unusual career course for a young rider and he progressed through the Molenaar NSF 100 Cup and ADAC Minibike Cup to the Moriwaki 250 junior Cup where he raced in 2014 and 15.
"During the Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup in 2015 I had my best race so far. At the TT circuit of Assen I qualified on pole and took the doulble win that day. In the second race I even was able to create a 8.6 second gap to the second rider."
"My favourite tracks are TT Circuit Assen, Circuit Ricardo Tormo Valencia and Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. My favourite corner is the Geert Timmer (the chicane at the TT Assen circuit) because it has a very fast exit into the straight. In overall I like the fast corners the most because I like the high speed in motorcycle racing."
Away from racing Sander has plenty to do. "I like to go out mountain biking, or to stay fit while kickboxing. To relax I like to play on the Playstation, listen to music and hang out with my friends. At school my favourite subject is Physics."
"The collaboration between the team and me is what I like the most. When this is on point, we can get the bike in the right setup and I can go the to maximum to be the fastest rider on track. Besides that, the speed gives me the most satisfaction."
"I expect to have a good season where I can show my fans, sponsors and everyone from the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup I have the potential to become a future world champion in motorcycle racing."
