"My dad bought me my first minibike when I was five. He had been a racer in the European, Spanish and Valencia championships. So racing is part of my family even though my mum doesn't like it much and gets very nervous in case something goes wrong. But she does occasionally come to the races. My father and I are racing or practicing every weekend."
"I know that this year in the Rookies Cup is just a beginning for me, I have to learn the maximum in the Cup, to be patient in races, learn to be fearless - and fight when you can to win. I have a long way to go but I want to learn, to progress step by step and then go on to win championships," explains the diminutive Jaume who normally goes by the more casual Jaime.
He says that his favourite subjects at school are geography and history and that he loves to play ping-pong (table tennis) every day. His racing hero is Dani Pedrosa, similar in stature and a great role model.
He already has had a good deal of success and some favourite races: I remember in the 2009 minimoto season; in one race I was leading, fell and restarted last, caught back up and won the race. Last year was also good, fighting for the win in Motorland Aragon."
"I love fast curves, it is not so hard on me, my size is not a disadvantage. I love racing, working to make the bike better and share the success with the team. My father taught me to value the good of the sport, work hard and sacrifice, try to be competitive and if you are consistent then victories will come."
