FAQ

How do I join the Rookies Cup?

Applications are open now for the 2021 Cup

Take the Road to Rookies Cup. Start by reading the ROAD TO ROOKIES CUP RULES then follow the instruction there and you will start the process. If accepted you will set off on the Road to Rookies Cup. - The Application Form and the Aplication Process are only open once the racing season starts.

What happens next?

After filling out the Application Form we will wish to see race and championship results through the 2021 racing year so that we can see the progress the Applicant is making. We are not only interested in dedicated road racers, those who ride dirt bikes may also be developing the riding skills that translate into success on tarmac.

Because of the virus situation we cannot run our usual Rookies Cup Selection Event in 2020.

We are still planning to invite a small number of new riders to join the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup for 2021.

So that we can do that we need to know about you, your background and experience. We will consider very carefully if we believe that the Rookies Cup is the best option for you in 2021. We will then send out a small number of invitations to join the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup for 2021.

Even if you are not invited to join the Rookies Cup for 2021 you will have placed yourself on the Rookies Cup Radar and we hope to run the usual Rookies Cup Selection Event in 2021 for the 2022 Cup intake.

Who can take part in the Selection Process?

All motorcycle racing talents born between January 1st, 2004 and March 31st, 2008 will be able to apply.

The taller and heavier you are the harder it is to be a racer in the Moto3 class. Please be aware that usually riders who are successful at the Selection Event and are invited to join the Rookies Cup are in general not tall and not heavy, most often they are less than 1m 72cm and 62kg. This is not a fixed limit. If you are taller and heavier you can apply and you may still be invited to the Selection Event.

When is the application deadline?

Applications will close on October 31st 2020. The successful applicants are likely to be those who applied earliest so that we have been able to watch their progress through the racing season.

What if I miss the deadline?

Visit our website early next year in order to apply for the 20201 Selection process for the 2022 Cup.

Do riders need racing experience?

High performance motorcycle experience will make it much more likely that you will be invited to the Selection Event. This does not have to be road racing. It could be some other high performance motorcycle experience including motocross, dirt track and speedway.

Can girls participate too?
