I am Zonta van den Goorbergh, I am 12 years old and I live in Breda, the Netherlands, with my parents and my sister.
I am excited to be writing my first Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup blog!
I guess an introduction is a good plan!
The first time I rode a motorcycle I was 3 years old, that was a little electric trail bike. When I was 5, I moved on to motocross and later, I was 10, I started competition in motocross.
In 2017 I started racing a NSF100 and I moved from dirt to tarmac. That year I raced the Dutch competition NSF100, the first races I was not good but at the end of the season I won!
This season I spent a lot of time training on different and bigger, longer tracks to prepare and train for the Red Bull Rookies and the ETC and I moved from an NSF100 to a GRC150 and a Moto3.
When I don't race, I go to school and I focus on combining the two ánd working out!
This month has been amazing and so much happened! I raced my first two races in the ETC, in Jerez and Albacete (which was sort of a wet race - pictures above, bike 84) and in between we went to Gaudix for the Red Bull Rookies selection Event. I left Spain very happy as I will be a Red Bull MotoGP Rookie in 2019!
After the event I had a day before I travelled back home (and had to go to school...) and I did enjoy that day with my friend Colin Veldhuizen and his family on the beach. It was time to relax!!
This winter will be one full of focus on 2019. We already did a sports test in Papendal (our national athletes train there) and we are now working on the right training schedules etc.
But before I start looking forward to the new year, I have a practice session and a race in Spain in November. Will tell you all about that in my next blog!
