Blog | Xavi Artigas takes third with a great last weekend

Hello to all,

This was the last race of the season at the Motorland circuit, which is closest to home, I was 4th in the provisional championship classification but I wanted to try to improve.

In the FP1 I concentrated on being able to put the bike to the point and we got good settings. In FP2 I had a technical problem with the bike but thanks to the great work of the mechanics of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup we could have the bike ready for the qualy.

In the QP1 I managed to be the fastest, it was the first time I got the Pole in this championship. Also I made the fastest lap ever on the circuit with a KTM of the Red Bull Rookies Cup.

In the first race I finished P2, it was a very fun race and also with this result I placed third in the championship standings.

I went to the second race with a strange feeling knowing that it would be the last race with this bike and I wanted to enjoy the race, the moment and have fun with my teammates.

I was the whole race in top positions. It was a pity that on the last lap a driver fell right in front of me and made me cut gas, which allowed 2 riders to overtake me and I couldn't fight for podium position, finally ending in P5.

Anyway, I was very happy to have achieved the 3rd position in the final standings of the Red Bull Rookies Cup.

After having spent 2 years in this championship I only have words of thanks for all the Staff of the Red Bull Rookies Cup. Thanks to Dani Ribalta and Gustl Auinger for believing in me and for their advice. Santi Morralla for his great work with the suspension and giving me a motorcycle to fight for the podium.

To my mechanic Nico Rus for always having the bike ready. To Peter Clifford, Xavi Larios, Romà, Marianne, Jasmin and all the mechanics and all the staff of the Red Bull Rookies Cup............. for their great work and for making this wonderful experience possible, I will miss you. And to my father for his support and for always being by my side in good times and not so good ones.

I will never forget this experience that has made me grow as a pilot and as a person, and from which I have learned a lot, besides giving me the opportunity to run on circuits that were just a dream for me.
I will not participate in this championship next year but I'm sure I'll enjoy watching the races on TV.
