Walid Soppe Misano

Blog | Walid Soppe going for it in Misano

Hello everyone,

Last weekend I had the race in Misano, we left already on Tuesday to Italy to prepare well for the weekend. Directly from the beginning I had a good pace and in the first free practice I finished in sixth position. During the second free practice I had a problem with the wheel (hit something) so I had to come in.

We wasted a practice because of the problem so I had some disadvantage compared to the other riders in qualifying. At the end I qualified in 11th but could start from the third row on the grid because some riders received a penalty.

I had quite a good start but after a few laps someone hit me and I had to go outside the track and felt all the way back to 15th. It needed some time to get my concentration back but when I found it I rode good lap times and I fought back to ninth.

In the last corner I tried to pass local rider Mattia Casadei but he knows the track very well and closed the door. I had to go a bit wide and the group passed me on the straight. I finished in 13th, not the place I hoped for but at least I tried to get the best result possible.

In one week we go to Aragon for our last two races this Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season and I really looking forward to it.

Take care,

Walid #13
