Blog | Simon too fast too early at the Sachsenring

Hey everyone,

It was a difficult weekend for me in Sachsenring last weekend.

In the first free practice, I was learning the track and tried to find braking points and so on. The track is so nice, with all the uphill and downhill curves. Lap by lap I was gaining confidence and it turned out to be quiet good.  Finished 13th at 1,8 seconds from the 1st.

For the first qualifying it started to rain a lot. I was getting faster lap by lap, but at the end the track had less and less water, but I couldn’t feel the limit on these conditions so I didn’t change my pace enough. The first riders improved their lap times a lot compared to me. So I finished 22nd.

Unfortunately between the 1st and the 2nd qualifying, riders from the German Championship had their Free Practice, a rider crashed out and put oil around a few corners, which had to cancel our 2nd qualifying…

In Race 1, the track had a lot of wet patches on it so we started the race with rain tires.  I made a good start, overtook 8 riders in the first 7 corners, but as I was braking on the dry line, I touched a wet patch and lost the front, I managed to catch it and go straight… the race was over for me, I was very far from the 1st riders and I struggled to have a good pace alone.

Race 2 was practically the same scenario, this time the track was completely dry. I again made a good start, I was 15th in the first sector, but in the same corner as the first race I ran wide and rode on the astro turf, which was completely wet, I crashed out …

0 points for me this weekend but now I will prepare my self to not do any more stupid mistakes like that.

Next race is in Brno, this time I will be more concentrated in the first laps to do a good result and finish both races !!

See you!
