Blog | Simon much faster but very unlucky

Hey guys,

Last weekend in Estoril was a lot better for me than than Jerez.

In the first practice the track wasn’t completely dry but I managed to finish in 11th position.

In the first qualifying I didn’t have a good feeling with the bike, I kept making mistakes and I couldn’t do fast lap times. I wasn’t very happy at the end, I finished 21st in the session.

For the second qualifying I completely changed the suspension set-up, and starting from the first lap, I immediately found a great feeling with the bike, I was having a lot fun. On my last lap I kept my concentration and I managed to do a good lap time, which placed me 10th.

In Race 1 I made a good start, I was 6th entering into the first corner. I couldn’t stay with the group for the first position but I had a great battle for the 8th place. I stayed 8th for practically the whole race, but four laps to the end I broke the exhaust pipe, I stayed concentrated, on the last lap the exhaust pipe fell down and went under my rear wheel which made me go straight, so I didn’t finish the race. I was definitely disappointed but I knew that I could again battle for a top 10 position in race 2.

In Race 2 my start was not excellent, whilst entering the first corner, I was 9th and one rider accidentally crashed into my rear, I crashed out. The bike was too damaged to continue.

I scored zero points but I have made a lot of progress between Jerez and Estoril so I am still satisfied of my weekend.

See you soon!
