After our bad weekend in Jerez where I suffered a slight concussion I came back stronger. I rode a race on the Lausitzring in the NEC Moto3 championship shortly after, but due to a big gap in the calendar of that championship we didn't ride much after that. I did a lot of training on the mountain bike and did a lot of kickboxing.
On the 4th and 5th of June we trained at Assen and competed in the IG Königsklasse, a German championship for 2-stroke bikes that allows Moto3s to start as guests in these races. We made a lot of progress in that weekend because there was data recording installed on my Moto3 standard bike.
On Wednesday June 8th I had my first press conference in Assen for the upcoming Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup races. For me it was the first time so I was a bit nervous, but this quickly cooled down as soon as we started off. On the same evening we caught a plane to Barcelona to train and compete in the FIM CEV Repsol International Championship.
In the weekend of 11th and 12th of June we rode in the Moto3 Junior class. This event was held on the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, where they used the F1 layout. It was a weekend with mixed feelings, because Luis Salom lost his life at this track just one week before we rode there. Before the race we remembered Luis by one minute of silence. This way we could show our respect to him and the sport.
I would like to send my deepest condolences to the family, friends and team of Luis Salom.
It was a very useful weekend, where we also made a lot of progress. I would like to tell you everything about it, but off course we can't tell everything. Our competition is reading this also haha.
The coach of the Dutch Motorcycle Federation, Barry Veneman, was also there to train the Dutch riders. We worked on braking, corners speed and much more. Ernst, the data-analyst of Ernst Dubbink Eveno Racing, where I ride for in the NEC Moto3 championship, supported me very well last weekend and helped me to book progress.
I look forward to race in Assen during the TT. I heard the place is nearly sold out and I like to race in front of the home crowd.
I hope to see you all there. Bye!
