Blog | Phillip Tonn getting into the battle at Mugello

Hi Everyone,

The last race in Mugello was the second race of the Red Bull Rookies Cup. This time we ware travelling with a motorhome. I had never been in Mugello before. The track is really nice, right in the middle of Toscana, surrounded by natural terraces. Lovely place.

On Thursday we had a track walk all together to get a first impression of Mugello Circuit. I was quite impressed about the course of that road.

Friday we could do two trainings and qualification. Sadly I could not do any training on the bike since the last race in Jerez, so I had to start at the very beginning back on my KTM.

This took a lot of time. I´ll have to do more training before the next race, for getting a better feeling and being able to use practice time better.

I could improve with each lap. But in the starting grid I was only in position 24.

In my race I could beat my own time again and was even 2 seconds faster than in qualifying. It was the first time I was able to be part of some overtaking battles and I had a good feeling on the bike. In lap 12 I was fighting to gain a better position and this competition brought me right into the gravel.

A small step forward.

It is great to have people like Hr. Auinger and Santi on my side, i can learn really much from them. They always keep motivating me. Thanks to the whole Rookies Cup team.

Now I´m looking forward to the next race in Assen.
