Last weekend was the 5th and the 6th round of the Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup 2012 in Silverstone. After a disaster race last year, with zero points in both races, I hoped for a better one this time. The weather was nearly perfect every day compared to last year. But it was still very cold and windy.
On Friday we had one free practice and two qualifying. The three sessions went not really good but for the race we had a good setting and I prepared myself as well as possible.
In the 1st race I had a good start and after one lap I went from 13th position to 2nd but it started raining and the race was stopped. We took the rain tires for the restart. But it was already dry when we went out for the 2nd part of the race. I gave my best and finished 4th. It was a good race because I led the race most of the time. Just the last lap was unlucky.
Also in the 2nd race I had a good start. After a few laps I took the lead. It was a good fight and a difficult one because it was a big group with 14 riders. In the last lap I had a good drive through every corner. So no-one could pass me. The victory was really great under these conditions. Now I am also the Cup leader that makes me proud also.
Now I am looking forward to the Spanish Championship in Barcelona next week and the next round of the Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup in Assen.
