I am going to tell you about 3rd and 4th rounds of Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, which took place in Assen last weekend on 26-27th of June.
Last year I didn't participate here, due to an injury, so it was my first ever time to ride Assen TT Circuit. In addition to it, it was one and a half month break after the races in Jerez, which was the last time for me I was riding Moto3 bike. Therefore during Thursday I had a lot of work to do! I tried to discover and to learn track as fast as I could. This knowledge and adaptation to the bike helped me to go well during practice sessions. In qualifying I was pushing really-really hard and finally I got in 9th position, first time riding here in Assen TT!
During first race on Friday, I didn't get a quite good start, but I recuperated fast and here started a big battle! I was riding in the Top-10. After few laps Olly Simpson's crash made changes, so that I was thrown to 15th place. What a misfortune! But I didn't want to give up! I started to push hard, and it was a non-stop fight until the last lap: on the last lap on the finish line colliding 2 times with Kaito Toba I finally was able to get to 11th position and lost only 0,013 of a second to Japanese rider.
In the second race I made a good start, and after one lap I was 7th. So I was in a group with Marc Garcia, Ayumu Sasaki, Robert Schotman, Bruno Ieraci and Raul Fernandez battling for 5th position.
It was the most interesting and the hardest fight in all my career! I climbed to the 6th position and was tracing Marc Garcia who was riding 5th. But the close battle with other riders made us change our positions every lap! All in all I finished 9th - my best result in Red Bull Rookies Cup (for the moment ;) and first Top-10 finish!
Interesting weekend with a lot of experience! I want to thank everybody who supports me, who is following the races!
Cannot wait to Sachsenring! I am looking forward to a great weekend in Germany on 5th and 6th rounds of Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup!
