Blog | Kevin Orgis racing hard at home

Hi everyone,

Two weeks ago was my home race on the Sachsenring. The start of the race weekend in the first free practice was good and in the second practice I had a really good feeling. I reached place 7, not to far from the top.

Because of the good time from the second practice some of the other riders wanted to follow me in the qualifying practice so I had really much traffic. I had only a few free laps so I couldn't improve my lap time. Because of the bad qualifying I had to start from place 18 and I knew that the race will be hard.

On Saturday, in the first race, I had a good start and I won many places. But I had big problems on braking and I crashed many times almost in other riders because I couldn't brake hard and late.

8 laps before finish I tried to overtake someone and he tried to overtake me back on the outside line. Because I was already late on the brakes we crashed together and I fell down. My clutch lever was broken so I couldn't restart.

On the next day was the second race and I had another good start and I tried to be faster in the first laps. After the first lap I was already in 10th place but the next one was already a few seconds away and I couldn't get the slipstream. So I tried to fight for the 10th place in a group. But I had problems with the rear while accelerating and in the last lap someone overtook me. I tried to get the place back but I got a small highsider and I lost the speed to the last corner.

So I had to be happy with the 11th place. All in all it wasn't a good weekend for me. The beginning was good but I have to improve in qualifying practice and the first 3 laps in the race.

It was also great to race in front of my home crowd, so a big thank you to all my fans and sponsors, who were there to support me.

In a couple of weeks we are in Austria on the Red Bull Ring and it's very special for all the Rookies because nobody knows the track.

See you,
