Blog | Kevin Orgis finds it tough swapping bikes for Jerez

Hi All,

A week ago my Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season started in Jerez. Already in the pre-season test (also in Jerez) I get to know the KTM and the track for the first time. It was really good and I went back home with a good feeling.

But between this test and the race I had two events in Silverstone and Assen with the ADAC Northern Europe Cup, where I ride a Honda together with my brother Leon and I had problems to switch both bikes easily.

So the start in Jerez last weekend was really difficult for me. But I tried to give everything and after the first two free practices my time was not so bad. But in the next two qualifying sessions I couldn't improve myself and I had to start from place 17.

In the first race I had a good start but the first corner was really tight and someone pushed me out. So I lost many places again and I was stuck in a group with two other guys. We had a really good fight and a few laps before the finish a rider behind our group passed us.

I was the only one of our group who could follow him and I fought the last three laps with him. At the end I won this fight and I went with a good felling into the second race.

But maybe I was a bit hyper motivated and I stalled the bike. So I had to start out of the pit lane far behind the others. During the race I could catch one rider, so I didn't finish in last place.

Now I have some free time until the next race in Assen in June. In this time I try to relax because the last five weeks I had race every weekend. I'm looking forward to Assen because I know this track and I want to show what I can do.

See you there,

Kevin
