I had a growing racing weekend in Assen. The first race was wet and I had a good feeling for the bike. I was only 17th. But it was very important in order to get the feeling back after my accident.
The second race I started 18th and could get into the first corner well. Then I was able to overtake 4 riders in the first lap. This went on and on because I could go faster than the others and worked my way up to 4th place.
In front I saw the 3rd rider. I went out and overtook him. Then there were still six seconds to the first 2 and I could catch up within two laps. But my rain tires were already wrecked, because the track had dried very quickly.
Then I took the 2nd and 1st rider and tried to get away, but it did not work and they both came and overtook me again. I thought to myself that I should now save tires and should try to attack with two laps to go.
In the penultimate lap I tried it, but it did not work. In the last lap I wanted to try again, with a lot of momentum to overtake them, but I had a slide and I thought that I should not fall down and wanted to stay safely in 3rd place.
I was enormously pleased with my 3rd place and it was the first time in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup on the podium.
I am really looking forward to Mugello in a few days.
