Darryn learning mugello

Blog | Darryn learning in the wet and racing hard in the dry in Mugello

Good day to you all.

My first time riding at Mugello and what an experience it was.

FP1: It was a dry session in which I used to learn the lovely circuit of Mugello, I was really liking the circuit and had a good feeling with the bike.

FP2 and Qualifying: The two wet sessions !!!! I started off getting a feeling for the bike in the wet and learning as much about the Mugello circuit as possible, it was going good until I made a small mistake getting on the gas a little too hard between turn 4/5 and I high-sided. Luckily there wasn't too much damage to the bike so I picked it up got it going and went back to the pits to get it ready for qualifying.

Qualifying got on its way but I had a problem with my back wheel, there was a bad vibration and I could not go as fast as I'd like to have so ended up in 17th position.

The Race: It was a dry race and I had only done 1 session in the dry so I lined up in 17th position knowing I had a lot of work ahead of me.

I got off to a great start entering the first corner in 12th and was learning fast. I managed to get up to 6th position in a group, unfortunately the front 5 had broken away. I was battling hard, with about 6 laps to go I had a moment exiting the corner braking the handle bar and losing the front, that was my weekend over .

I'm looking forward to a National event coming up this weekend in South Africa,

And training hard for Assen,
