Blog | Collin Veijer swapping bikes and learning a lot

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all OK.

After the first (double) Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup events in Austria we travelled to Jerez for the next European Talent Cup races.

Although switching from KTM to Honda each time doesn't make things easier I did manage to get a better understanding of the Honda NSF250R. For sure the weekend in Jerez gave me more trust in the bike.

Unfortunately a difficult Qualifying resulted in 17th position on the grid, I had some work to do during the three scheduled races for the weekend.

I needed a good start in all the races to stay with the front group from the beginning. It didn't work out every time but when I did get a good start I had the speed to stay with the front group and get a top 10 finish. It felt good to be able to fight with them. Anyway, I pushed hard in all races and got points in all of them.

This oming weekend (1 – 4 October) I have the next races for the European Talent Cup at the challenging circuit of Aragon.

The circuit is pretty new for me and I will do my best to understand it all.

After this weekend we will stay in Aragon for the next double stop of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, which will be held from 16th - 18th October followed by another Aragon round 23rd - 25th October. At least by then I will know the circuit!

It will be interesting to see if what I learned on the Honda on the same circuit is helpful when going back on the KTM RC 250R bike again.

With Rookies and ETC combined I think I have 6 race weekends in Spain in the upcoming 7 weeks (!), maybe it's time to take Spanish lessons. Vamos!

Stay safe,
