Blog | Collin Veijer with a good Valencia weekend - valuable Rookies Cup preperation

Hello everyone,

The last weekend in the European Talent Cup is over after the last round in Valencia.

I was able to make a lot of mileage during the free practice sessions and we found a good setting for the bike.
Therefore I had high hopes towards the qualifying sessions.

Unfortunately that did not go as smoothly for me as hoped for, I didn't have the same feeling with the bike as during the free practice sessions and had to start my races from P17.

After qualifying, the team made some adjustments to the set up, which made the bike already feel better in the warm up.

Race 1 I had a good start but unfortunately I made a mistake with shifting gear, so I dropped back to P19.

But the feeling was good and I was able to make up many places and finished the race in P9.

I was quite satisfied with that, considering the time lost at the beginning.

For Race 2 the team again made a few small adjustments which again worked out better in the warming up.

I started Race 2 full of confidence and ready for a top result but soon I felt some vibrations and heard a lot of noise.
Unfortunately, I had to return the bike to the pit box on the first lap with a technical defect.

Not a nice way to end the European Talent Cup season but overall I must be satisfied, I got some good results and definitely learned a lot.

A real bonus is that I have been riding many laps now on the Valencia circuit – I really like this track! – and we can stay here to have the final two rounds with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup starting this upcoming weekend.

After briefly leading the race during the previous round I am determined to end the season on a high!

Stay safe,
