Blog | Billy van Eerde going forward in Spielberg - stopped in Jerez

Hello everyone,

The first 2 rounds of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup are over. I did not get the results I wanted but I am satisfied with the improvement from Round 1 to Round 2.

Round 1 I just struggled for some reason to be comfortable with the bike and took a while to get up to speed but in Race 2 I got a decent feeling back and managed a OK race.

Round 2 I felt a lot better and managed to get to the lead in Race 1 and have a great battle throughout the whole race. Race 2 I was fighting at the front again and unfortunately with 3 laps to go I crashed out in P4.

The next week we had a round of the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship in Jerez. All was going good and I had qualified P8 which is my best position on the grid so far in the championship. But in the final moments of the 2nd Qualifying I had a crash and broke my left femur :(

I've already had the surgery and I'm on the road to recovery. Thanks to my team and all the staff at the hospital in Jerez I was looked after very well. I don't know when I'll be able to get back on track but I am aiming to be back for Valencia fingers crossed.
