Last year, in the 2015 season, Misano was a completely unknown circuit to me. But from the first moment I saw that circuit I knew that I would roll down the track and I would be very comfortable in it. And so it was, because in Misano I had my best result of 2015 in the Red Bull Rookies Cup.
Being aware of all this, this year should be better than the last, it is a circuit where your technique and finding a good line produces a good lap time.
Being the second year at this circuit and knowing that the previous year gave me quite good results, it made me think that you could go for the win in Saturday's race, the only one of the weekend.
Free practice went pretty well, I stood on both provisional third position in the table if having to risk and drive my KTM too the limit to put myself in that position of the table.
Time of the Qualy, then it was only necessary to ratify what had been happening over the previous FP.
Getting the pole was not a difficult goal to achieve.
Five minutes from the end of the Qualifier I had to enter Pit Lane to solve a small adjustment on my KTM. When I came out again, just it gives me time to check whether the settings on the bike had improved, so I could not find a perfect lap to reach the Pole.
I was just 160 thousandths off the pole man in fourth position for the starting grid in the race. It really would not be a concern, since I knew certainly that would pace to be in the top positions of the head of the race.
It was quite clear what to do during the race. My main goal was to put myself ahead and try to break the group, try to escape alone.
I was not at all possible escape from my rivals, coming to have a strong fight (sports) with any of them, to the point of not knowing if in the last lap should resort to a photo finish.
Dominant in the most laps of the race to finally pass under the checkered flag in first position for the finish line. The race was perfect with a little scare included, but without anything else.
On arrival at the parc fermé I was disappointed to find that I had been penalised a position by stepping outside the red zone on the ripple strips. Therefore, I was relegated to second place on the podium. I really do not understand much how much and how often you can exceed the limits of the track, but I want is to accept the decisions of people who apply the rules and regulations.
It has hurt as the disqualification from an equal position happened in the first race of Austria. I guess it would hurt any of you, my friends; I know that the race was at all times in my hands, and that comforts me.
You have to have and do Fair Play.
I hope you have enjoyed the race, and even you rise from your seats in each of the emotions generated during its course.
Now is Motorland.
I will give everything to get the win again.
Meanwhile, I dedicate this second place podium in Misano; a circuit where last year I discovered that I loved.
A hug friends.
