Stepping from a motocross background into road racing for the 2008 Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup he soon found that the change to tarmac was just right for him. He made dramatic progress through the year and carried that over to Europe for the 2009 season where he learnt the tracks and got steadily faster. He starts the 2010 season as one of the strong favourites and hopes to follow his heroes Ben Spies and Colin Edwards into Grand Prix racing. He has the right background for such aims; "My dad raced all his life and I just picked it up from him. I want to make it into MotoGP one day and become a successful racer." When not on his race bike or dirt bike he likes to ride his bicycle and at school enjoys Spanish, something that will no doubt help him as his career develops.
