Blog | Walid Soppe having great rides in the German Championship

Hi guys,

The last two weeks were perfect! After the races at Sachsenring I took some rest and prepared for the German Championship (IDM) races in Schleiz and Assen. The Schleizer Dreieck was a new circuit for me so I had to learn the lay-out first.

Through the weekend I went faster and faster and on Sunday I could go for victory. Unfortunately I made a jumpstart and the race direction gave me a ride-through penalty. After I came in I set the fastest lap of the race and was able to come back from last position to fourth.

Last weekend the IDM went to Assen for the fifth round of the Moto3 Championship. I couldn't wish any better than those three days. Every session I improved my lap times and in the race I rode very fast! I had a nice battle with Tim Georgi and with five laps to go I pushed a bit more and there became a little gap between Georgi and me.

A little mistake from me let him come back and he even passed me but a few corners later I already passed him again and I could hold it to the end. I'm very happy with this win and it gives me confidence for Brno.

To celebrate my victory and for all the people who supported me in Assen, a standing wheelie and a big thanks!

Take care,

Walid.
