Walid Soppe Siverstone

Blog | Walid Soppe enjoyed two good rides at Silverstone

Hi guys,

What a wonderful weekend in Silverstone.

On Thursday morning we left by car for England and in the afternoon we made a lap around the circuit. It was a long walk because the track is almost six kilometres. On the first day I had some problems but my lap times went faster and faster. Despite my times I stayed on the same position: 16th.

Because of my bad starts in the last few races we decided to start without launch-control and it was a good decision. I won a few places at the start and in the first race I came in a group which fought for 10th position. At the end I tried as much as I could to overtake some riders and finished eleventh.

The second race was very difficult. For the first time I had to deal with rain. It was even the first time on rain tyres because last year, in the Honda NSF100 Championship, they don't have rain tyres. My start was good and I tried to stay on the bike.

I was fast and could pass a lot of riders. In the last lap I had a big moment and because of a highsider I almost crashed from sixth position. Finally I ended seventh and it's (together with Jerez Race 2) my best result so far in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.

After the race on Sunday we went back home and it was a long trip due to a strike in Calais. After a long night we were back in Coevorden but it was all worth it and I'm looking forward to Misano!

Take care,

Walid.
