Blog | Walid Soppe ends a great season with a tough Aragon

Hi everyone,

The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season is over. For me it was a debut season with many ups and downs. With three top-10 results, two of them seventh place, I had some good results. The crashes in Assen and Sachsenring and my mistake just before the start in Misano were bad moments but I will remember the good moments and learn from the mistakes.

I really like it to ride in this championship and I'm so happy I'm in for next year.

In Aragon I had a bad qualifying and made to less progress with the new tyres. I had to start from 18th position on the grid but I made quite a good start. After the red flag due to a crash of Aleix Viu #81 (I wish you a fast recovery mate!) I came in a group that fought for 9th position.

In the last lap I tried to pass Robert Schotman but hit his rear tyre and crashed.

I was satisfied about the race and I was not really sad about the crash because it can happen but the only thing I was sad about was the knee injury it brought. In the second race I wasn't able to push as I normally do and after I went two times outside the track I decided to just finish the race without any risks.

Despite my good race in the first manche I went home with zero points. Next year I will do a lot better!

For now I will work and train hard and prepare for 2016.

Take care,

Walid.
