This will be my final ever Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup blog as the last round at Aragon was my last round in the Rookies Cup.
My 3 years in the Rookies Cup have been amazing. I have amazing memories from every year of being in the Rookies Cup, from being on pole and having two podiums in my first year in 2015 all the way to winning my first race in the Rookies Cup at the start of this season.
I have learned so much being in the Rookies Cup for the last 3 years. Every time I rode a Rookies Cup bike I learned something new.
My favourite memory of 2015 was at the last round of the year at Aragon where I had felt strong all weekend and qualified on pole setting at the time the fastest ever lap on a Rookies Cup bike at the Aragon circuit. I led both races and collected two 3rd place finishes, one on the Saturday when I was still 13 and one on the Sunday which was my 14th birthday.
2016 was a difficult year for me as I had a strong pre season test but then broke my wrist just before the first round at Jerez. I managed to get two podium finishes of 3rd over the course of the season, one at Assen in a wet Race 2
Another at Aragon which I fought my way through from the very back of the field. I finished the year 5th in the championship after not completing 4 races due to injury and being taken out.
I started off my 2017 season really well by taking a win in Race 1 at Jerez.
But it's fair to say my season just went downhill.
Last weekend at Aragon was the best I had felt on the bike for most of the season.
In Race 2 I felt really good with the bike and pushed my hardest through all of the race and I was in the leading group, I crossed the line in 7th but only 0.11 from a podium finish in my last ever Rookies Cup race.
I would like to thank all of the Rookies Cup staff for all their hard work, support and confidence in me over these last 3 years.
I found it really emotional saying my final goodbyes to all of the staff because in the end it felt like a big family, I would like to say a huge thanks to my lead mechanic Juan, since day 1 he has been behind me with everything I have done and always supported me and helped me to achieve my best.
See you all soon hopefully in the near future!!
