June has been a busy month with racing almost every weekend in a different championships. I've had some great races and some bad ones, but from the bad ones I've learnt loads, which will make me a better rider.
The month started at Mugello for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and it was amazing to be racing at a circuit with such a great atmosphere. Unfortunately in terms of my result it wasn't the best, as I crashed out of the only race of the weekend.
I was pushing as hard as I could to try and catch up the leading group, but I pushed too hard in turn 2 and high sided the bike which put me in the gravel. It was hard to be too sad as the Italian fans had stayed for our race and the grandstand opposite was full and they clapped, cheered and revved their chainsaw engines when I got up and walked off!
At Mugello I qualified badly and I now know how important qualifying is, so I can go with the front group straight away and be able to race with the faster riders. After the race I spoke to Dani so now I know exactly what to do at Assen and onwards.
2 weeks later I then went to Snetterton for Round 3 of the British Talent Cup where I wanted to get a good result to boost my confidence for my next round with rookies at Assen and improve my place in the British Talent Cup.
I had a good weekend battling with Rory Skinner. The first race we were in an intense 14 lap battle, where we swapped places almost every lap. I fought to the end with a last lap last corner overtake, but I compromised my exit speed onto the final straight and I was beat to the finish line by 0.040!
In the last race I was so determined to win that I pushed too hard on the first lap resulting me crashing due to cold tyres. Although it's not the outcome I wanted but I remain positive.
I feel as thoughI have learned from my mistakes and I'm looking forward to putting them to the test in Assen this weekend!
Last weekend I rode at the cool FAB racing Junior Championship to help my brother and to do some training before the weekend. I got a mini Supermoto to race which was so much fun, especially as I was riding against my friends who ride at Junior World Championship and British Talent Cup on the same bike!
I've also been training hard in the gym and this combined with my racing has now set me up mentally and physically for Assen I can't wait!
