Blog | Matthias Meggle riding every weekend

Hi everybody,

The last weeks were really busy for me. I had four back to back races.

The first one was the Moto3 Junior World Championship round in Barcelona. In the Junior World Championship it is not so easy for me, because I ride with a Production Racer bike while my opponents ride factory bikes that have more power in the accelerations and the straights. But I always try my best and make the maximum out of what I have.

In Barcelona I learned a lot, for example how to solve suspension problems with my riding.

The Assen weekend started well with a good feeling in the practices, but only 11th in the qualifying.

But this did not hold me off going trough the group in the first laps in both races and fighting for the podium. In race one I missed a podium position very close and finished on the 4th position.

Race two was similar to race one, battling for the podium the whole race. 1,5 laps before the end I had to go wide because of a crash in front of me and I dropped back to 10th. Afterwards I made a perfect last lap and went up to 3rd position before the last chicane. Unfortunately I crashed in the entry of the last chicane and smashed the podium position into the gravel. I was pushing the bike the last meters to the finish line, but it was a bit too late for points and I finished 16th.

Even though it was a good weekend with a great improvement.

Before my home GP in Germany I had a great day in Magdeburg at the Red Bull Rookies Cup and also my personal helmet supplier, Schuberth Helmets. We got a guided tour through the factory and made some more nice activities in the evening. I really have to say thanks to Schuberth for the nice day and also for the support with their great helmets that keep us save in our crashes.

After the event we drove to the Sachsenring. I really like the event with all the German fans, but in the other hand for me the Sachsenring was never easy in the past...but that was in the past!

The weekend started not in the best way, but I kept calm and made a step by step progress during Friday, in the end I qualified 8th.

In race one with wet racetrack I made a good start and was riding in 4th for most of the time of the race even when I had grip problems, but a big group was just behind me. In the last laps I made some mistakes and lost some positions.

I finished 8th and took some points, but I know I can do much better and feel even more confident for race two.

Sunday, in race tow, I was fighting nearly al the race in a big group for the 6th position and won the fight in a very exiting last lap.

Now, I am 6th in the standings, only four points behind the 4th position. We have seven races to go and I feel stronger race by race.

After Sachsenring, thanks to my team Dynavolt IntactGP, I had the possibility to ride the next race of the Junior World Championship in Valencia and Estoril. There I made another steps forward and close the gap to the front. Also I am really happy with the laptimes that I made with my bike, in Estoril I was even fighting for the points but unfortunately I crashed out.

This very positive and give good feelings for the rest of the season.

After Estoril I made some more training in Spain with RiderPark.

It was great, I rode many different bikes and made a lot of physical training.

See you in Brno and all the best!
