Blog | Matthias Meggle gets speed and a point in Misano

Hi everybody,

In this blog I want to tell you about the last race in Misano, which was the only event with only one race.

In the free practice sessions on Friday I improved my feeling for the track and the bike step by step but my lap times and the position were not as good as I expected.

In the qualifying I finally made some fast laps and qualified on the 13th position. But I had big problems with my front, especially in the last sector. For the race we changed the suspension setting and it felt better.

I started the race from 12th position because some riders got a penalty for riding too slow in the qualifying. I was fighting in a big group from 8th to 15th position. When I had free ride I could go very fast but it was a hard race because there were overtakes nearly in every corner.

I tried to overtake some guys in the last lap but I braked too late and ran off the track. I couldn't catch up the group again in the last few corners and so I only finished the race in 15th position.

The race result is very disappointing for me.

But I rode the 7th fastest lap of the race with only 0.6sec gap to the fastest lap, so that shows that my pace is good and I'm ready for better results.

Aragon will be another new track for me but I really look forward to the last two races of the 2016 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season.

See you there,
