Kevin Orgis Sachsenring

Blog | Kevin Orgis on the podium at his home Grand Prix

Hi all,

Last race weekend was my home race on the Sachsenring.

It started quite well in the first free practice with P3 but I still had to get comfortable with the bike and the track. In the second training I was on P6 because we tried out a different setting for the bike and I wasn't happy with it at all.

In the qualifying I had a good feeling but in the first half I had some problems with the traffic because many riders were in a group. At the end the rear tyre was damaged a lot, so I couldn't improve my lap time anymore. But I was happy with P6.

The first race was completely wet but I had a good start and I was really confident with the track and the bike in this conditions. I tried to follow Deniz Öncü but he rode with more risk and after I had some slides I tried to keep my second position.

It worked out well and I was really happy with my first Rookies Cup podium! It was a great feeling, especially on my home track in front of my home crowd.

The second race was dry and I had a good start again. But I wasn't able to get a feeling for the bike and I couldn't follow the first riders, but in the group fighting for P6 I found my rhythm and I could fight hard.

I had a good feeling but in the last lap I had a shifting problem out of the first corner and I lost some positions. At the end it was just P10 and I am not happy with this.

Now is the summer break and in three weeks is Brno and I try to improve to fight again for the podium.

But before the end I want to tell you from our trip to the Schuberth company. They showed us how helmets are getting built and also we could put some parts of the helmet together on our own.

Then they told us something about car helmets and their difference to motorcycle helmets. After that we made a dragon boat tour were we had to paddle and in the evening we had a very tasty dinner. After eating we all riders played volleyball and we get some gifts from Schuberth. It was a very interesting and funny trip and I'm happy that I had the chance to go there.

See you,
