My weekend in Jerez wasn’t great but wasn’t bad either.
Did not get a good qualifying which was very disappointing but after looking at the time sheets the times were very close.
Did not get a good start (will have to practice my starts), made my way up to the 2nd group which was for 9th position. Fought really hard to stay with the 2 riders that got away but just had to settle for 11th place.
Again, had a terrible start (Boy! do I need to work on my starts). Got into the race and found I had some problems. I had no front end feeling, ran wide on a couple of corners and fought hard for a lonely 15th – was not great but managed to get a point (all helps, better than nothing). Spoke to Santi and WP crew after the race and was told the track conditions was not the same as Race 1.
Can’t wait to start testing my KTM 250R BSB bike for the Knockhill race. Having my own bike which is the same as my Rookie bike I think will help me a lot as I think I will have lots of time to practice my starts and get my suspension set-up really well. I can then give better feedback to Santi and the WP guys – our time is always so limited at Red Bull. Hope my luck starts to change.
To Olly Simpson – wishing you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on track in the near future.
See you soon.
