Filip Salač Jerez Podium

Blog | Filip Salač with a podium from Jerez

Hello everyone,

I'm going to tell you about first races in Jerez of Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.

First free practice was with rain tyres because it was raining. I went faster and faster. I made best lap and I won FP1.

Second free practice was dry. I tried to make best setting for qualification and it wasn't so bad. I won FP2.

In qualification I tried to push but I was in a group and every lap I had to slow down a little bit. I went to the box for some chance and I went alone. Before the last lap I made my best lap and in the last lap I pushed to much and I had had small crash because my front wheel slide and closed. I was 2nd on the start so it was first row.

In the first race I had good start but into the first corner I was 3rd. Than I was about 4th to 6th place. The first two riders in the front went away from the first group and were a little bit faster.

Then we fight for the last podium place. In the last two laps I tried to push but the race was red flagged. And the lap before I crossed the finish line 4th. First race of the season I was 4th so it wasn't so bad.

In second race I had good start I was second into the first corner. Than I was 2 to 4th.
In the last 5 laps I had problem with rear grip in exit from the corner. I was 5th in the last lap.

In the last two corners I overtook to 4th and in the last corners 3rd was little bit far so I rode with my head and tried to have very good exit onto the straight. Then from the slipstream I overtook them. In the end I was 2nd.

It was my first podium in Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup so I'm very happy.

I want to say thanks to all for support, to my mechanics Joan and Santi, to all from Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, to my family, to my sponsors and to all my fans!

See you in Le Mans for the Junior World Championship Moto3.
