My name is Anthony Alonso. This will be my first year in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and I am very excited to be on my way to MotoGP. I have been training very hard, especially at the track, to get some experience on a 4-stroke for the new KTM RC 250 R. I know that this will be a great year and I am looking forward to racing the first round in Texas at the new track.
I have been practicing on a Moriwaki MD250 that Honda has let me borrow through Roadracing World and Jake Zemke. It all started at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the final WERA round last year. My dad and I met Jake Zemke and started talking about the upcoming Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season. Jake is a really nice guy and talked Roadracing World and Honda to see if they'd let me borrow a Moriwaki MD250 to practice.
The biggest challenge for me has been the engine-braking of the 4-stroke. I’ve only ever ridden and raced 2-stroke bikes and I need to learn to how to deal with that. But the more I practice, the more I am getting used to the engine braking and the torque out of the corners.
I am going to have lots of fun in this new season and I cannot wait!
See you soon,
